Looking for the Moon

On the thirteenth of Shabaan the Moon disappeared
What will convey to you what the Moon is?
Nothing but a manifestation of the reflection of the Sun in the darkness
And what will convey to you what the Sun is?
Ah, the Light of the Beloved
And what will convey to you what the Flood is?
It is the Fayda - that which bursts forth in the Heart of the Believer
And engulfs everything

It is the Fayda, the Divine Effulgence
And it pours forth from the Moon of Moons
The Old Moon has not waned, but when at its brightest became veiled from me
The crescent of the New Moon is said to have appeared but that too is veiled from me
Why this occultation?
And I ask myself: How did you encounter the Moon, the beautiful manifestation of the Light of the Sun in the darkness?
Ah, it was itself as a reflection in a Pond
I saw the Moon for the very first time as a reflection in a humble Pond
Quick, quick, I need to hurry
To that Pond I must return
To that Pond I return

And as I journey I think of them
Hassan the Moon
Abu Bakr the Pond.

Song of the Munshid

I am the munshid
You are the thaakirun

You are the sea bound vessel
And I am your tether

So listen to the sound of my voice
As you journey across the ocean of the Beloved

And do not be afraid to lose yourself in Him
For my song will guide you home

I am the munshid
And you are the thaakirun

And in this circle of Remembrance
In a Divine Dialogue
The Lover and the Beloved are wed

The lantern of my voice gives you the assurance to travel
But my greatest gift is to allow your Self to let go of my voice
So that you may lose your Self in your Remembrance, your Thikr, your Beloved

We are the thaakirun
He is The Munshid.
